Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of the Gnana Saraswati Temple in Nirmal district. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers, and several public representatives. The initiative aims to modernize the temple while preserving its spiritual significance.
The project, with an estimated cost of ₹225 crore, is designed to enhance infrastructure and facilities for devotees. The Gnana Saraswati Temple, located in Basara, holds a unique place as the only dedicated temple of Goddess Saraswati in South India, attracting thousands of pilgrims annually.
During the event, the Chief Minister performed Bhoomi Puja along with other dignitaries. He also offered special prayers at the temple along with his family. In a personal moment, he conducted the Aksharabhyasam ceremony for his grandson, symbolizing the initiation into education.
Officials stated that the redevelopment plan includes expansion of temple premises, improved queue systems, accommodation facilities, and better crowd management infrastructure. The project is expected to significantly improve the experience for devotees, especially during peak festival seasons.
The ceremony was attended by several leaders, including MPs, MLCs, MLAs, and district officials. This initiative is part of a larger push by the Telangana government to upgrade major temples and boost religious tourism across the state. By investing in infrastructure and preserving traditional practices, the administration aims to position Telangana as a key spiritual destination.
