A major theft has been reported from a house near Chhoti Masjid in Yakutpura, within the limits of Rein Bazar Police Station in Hyderabad. Police said gold, cash and foreign currency were reported missing from a room in the house during wedding-related activities. According to Mirchowk ACP Shyam Sunder, the Yakutpura theft involved approximately 18 tolas of gold, ₹4 lakh in cash and foreign currency reportedly worth around ₹1 lakh.
The incident reportedly came to light while the family was occupied with wedding-related activities. Police and the CLUES team have begun examining the case. Investigators are reportedly checking possible entry points at the house as well as nearby buildings. The police are also examining the surrounding area as part of efforts to identify those responsible for the reported theft. According to the police, efforts are underway to arrest the suspects soon.
Mission Chabutra Checking Intensified in Old City
Meanwhile, Hyderabad Police have intensified Mission Chabutra operations and special night checking across parts of the Old City ahead of Milad-un-Nabi and Ganesh Festival arrangements. During the intervening night of August 21 and August 22, Mirchowk ACP Shyam Sunder conducted Mission Chabutra checking within the limits of Bhavaninagar Police Station.
As part of the late-night operation, police conducted checks in the area and advised a youth not to roam on the streets after 1 am. The police have been increasing night patrols and checking in sensitive areas of the Old City as part of security arrangements for the upcoming festivals.
ACP told Raftaar e Deccan that the night checking is aimed at maintaining public order and ensuring peaceful movement of residents during the festival period.
The Rein Bazar theft investigation and the wider security checks are separate developments, although both involve police activity in Hyderabad’s Old City. Moreover, He said during the initial investigation it is reported that 18 tola Gold, 4 lakh cash, One lakh Foreign Currency and other items have been stolen and our officers are investigating and checking the CCTV footages to identify the thieves.
