The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Sunkari Narahari Rao, Deputy Director, Multi Zone-II, Survey and Land Records Department, in a disproportionate assets case. The action follows an investigation that allegedly uncovered assets far exceeding his known sources of income. The case came to light on June 16 during searches conducted across multiple locations linked to the official and his associates.

According to ACB officials, a case has been registered against Narahari Rao under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended in 2018. Investigators allege that the officer accumulated substantial wealth through corrupt practices during his tenure in public service.

Following the registration of the case, ACB teams carried out simultaneous searches at ten locations. These included the officer’s residence as well as properties connected to relatives, associates, and alleged benamis.

During the searches, officials identified several immovable properties. These reportedly include 1.24 acres of agricultural land in Maheshwaram, five open plots in Ranga Reddy district, a 2,500-square-foot apartment in Puppalaguda, and two residential flats measuring 1,860 square feet each in Narsingi.

Investigators also detected a 1,377-square-foot flat in Rajendranagar, a G+3 building in TNGOs Colony, Gachibowli, and a G+2 residential building in Chatrinaka. The properties are currently being evaluated as part of the ongoing investigation.

Apart from real estate holdings, the ACB reported the recovery and identification of significant movable assets. These include cash worth approximately ₹1.54 crore, bank balances amounting to ₹2.29 crore, and fixed deposits valued at ₹5.04 crore.

The agency further stated that gold ornaments weighing around 1.3 kilograms and silver articles weighing nearly 8 kilograms were detected during the searches. Two bank lockers held in the name of the officer’s wife have also been identified and are under examination.

According to preliminary estimates provided by investigators, the total value of the movable and immovable assets detected during the operation exceeds ₹150 crore at current market rates. Officials emphasized that the assessment remains subject to verification and further scrutiny.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau has confirmed that the investigation is continuing and that additional inquiries are being conducted into the source and ownership of the assets identified during the raids.
