The Telangana government has undertaken a major reorganization of the Hyderabad City Police Commissionerate, bringing several rapidly growing outskirts and airport-side localities under the city police limits to improve law enforcement efficiency.
The reorganisation, notified through a government order dated December 29, 2025, has come into force with immediate effect. Officials said the move is aimed at reducing response time, improving supervision, and aligning police jurisdiction with the expanded GHMC boundaries.
Among the most significant changes is the inclusion of Rajendranagar, Mailardevpally, Pahadishareef, and the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport area into Hyderabad City Police jurisdiction. Previously, many of these areas fell under Cyberabad Police limits.
In Rajendranagar, the Mailardevpally, Attapur, and Rajendranagar police stations have been transferred to Hyderabad City Police. The RGIA Police Station and the entire Shamshabad airport ward will now be handled by city police, a move expected to strengthen airport security and improve handling of passenger-related and airport-linked offences.
The Pahadishareef Police Station has also been brought under city police limits, reflecting the area’s rapid residential and commercial expansion. Officials said this would provide residents with easier access to senior officers and faster policing services.
Following the reorganisation, Hyderabad City Police now comprises seven police zones, 26 police divisions, and 72 police stations. Authorities said the revised structure would help balance workload, enhance accountability, and improve crime monitoring across the city.
Additional boundary adjustments include the realignment of parts of Sanath Nagar and Begumpet wards, while certain peripheral localities have been shifted to Rachakonda Police and Cyberabad for administrative clarity.
Police officials have advised residents, particularly in newly included areas, to confirm their updated jurisdiction and approach the respective police stations for FIRs, tenant verification, passport services, and women and child safety complaints. Updated jurisdiction maps are expected to be displayed at police stations soon.
Officials said that while citizens may need time to adjust, the reorganisation is expected to result in quicker response times, stronger policing, and safer neighbourhoods in the long run.
