Well Known South and Bollywood actor Prakash Raj is facing legal proceedings following allegations that he possesses voter identity cards in multiple locations. The case has gained attention after reports emerged that a Bengaluru court issued a warrant in connection with the matter.
The complaint was reportedly filed by advocate Dilip Kumar, who alleged that Prakash Raj possessed voter identity cards in four different locations across multiple states. According to the complainant, the initial complaint was submitted at the Halasuru Gate Police Station in Bengaluru in 2019. However, he alleged that no action was taken on the complaint.
The matter was subsequently taken to the Bengaluru Police Commissioner and the Election Commission authorities. The complainant claimed that these representations also did not lead to any action. Following this, a private complaint was filed before the court.
The allegations state that Prakash Raj possessed voter identification cards in Karnataka, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, among other locations. The complainant argued that an individual is legally permitted to hold only one valid voter identity card at a time. According to reports, the court examined documents submitted by the complainant and issued summons during the proceedings.
Reports indicate that the court later issued a warrant after the actor allegedly failed to respond to the summons. The matter is currently before the court, and further hearings are expected. The controversy also relates to disclosures made during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, when Prakash Raj contested from Bengaluru Central as an independent candidate.
The complainant has alleged that certain information regarding voter registrations in other states was not disclosed in the election affidavit. These allegations are now part of the ongoing legal proceedings. Legal experts note that possessing multiple active voter registrations may attract provisions under election laws if established during investigation or judicial proceedings.
As of now, the allegations remain part of an ongoing legal matter. Any final determination regarding liability or legal consequences will depend upon court proceedings and evidence presented before the judiciary. The next hearing in the case is expected in the coming weeks as the legal process continues.
