Hyderabad witnessed a significant judicial infrastructure milestone on Sunday as Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant laid the foundation stone for the High Court Zone-II buildings in Rajendranagar, Rangareddy district. The event was attended by Telangana High Court Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, and several senior judges and officials.
The new High Court complex is being developed at Budwel with state-of-the-art infrastructure. Construction of the main institutional buildings under Zone-I is already underway, marking steady progress in the project.
As part of the second phase, the foundation was laid for residential quarters for judges. This expansion aims to provide a comprehensive judicial ecosystem, combining court infrastructure with residential facilities.
Speaking at the event, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy described the project as a rare and historic opportunity. He emphasized that building a court complex is akin to creating a “temple of justice” for people of all faiths, highlighting the judiciary’s crucial role in a democratic system.
The Chief Minister noted that the existing High Court building, despite its historical importance, could no longer meet the growing demands of the legal system. Soon after assuming office in December 2023, his government decided to initiate the construction of a new High Court complex and allocated 100 acres of land for the project.
He further stated that the new complex would serve as a benchmark in modern public infrastructure and function as a lifeline for society. According to him, the facility will cater especially to the poor, weak, and marginalized sections seeking justice.
The government has also undertaken additional initiatives to strengthen judicial infrastructure across the state, including the development of 49 courts and residential quarters in various districts.
Revanth Reddy stressed the importance of cooperation among the three pillars of democracy—legislature, executive, and judiciary—calling for mutual respect and coordination to ensure efficient governance.
The Zone-II construction is expected to be completed by December next year, marking another step toward enhancing Telangana’s judicial capacity.
