The Telangana government has completed a major recruitment drive in the health department by issuing appointment letters to 1,257 Grade-II Lab Technicians. The large-scale programme was held at the Osmania Medical College grounds in Koti, Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha, along with Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and MP Anil Kumar Yadav, handed over appointment letters to the selected candidates. The minister stated that the recruitment process was completed in record time.
According to officials, a notification for the posts was issued on September 11, 2024, and the entire process was completed by November 2025. A total of 23,323 candidates appeared for the examination, out of which 1,257 were selected.
Department-wise postings include 764 candidates under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), 300 under the Directorate of Public Health (DPH), 180 under TVVP, and 13 under MNJ.
Addressing the newly recruited staff, the health minister highlighted the critical role of lab technicians in modern healthcare. He said medical treatment today depends heavily on accurate diagnostic reports and stressed the need to maintain NABL standards in government laboratories.
The minister also revealed that in the last two years, the government has filled over 70,000 jobs across departments. In the health sector alone, 9,572 posts have been filled, while the recruitment process for another 7,267 posts is in various stages. Notifications for additional posts will be released soon.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to transforming Telangana into a healthy state through improved healthcare infrastructure and services.
