Hyderabad witnessed a high-level review of urban governance and central schemes as Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy chaired the DISHA (District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee) meeting at MCRHRD. The meeting was attended by District Collector Hari Chandana, GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan and senior officials.
The primary objective of the meeting was to assess the implementation of centrally sponsored flagship schemes and ensure their effective delivery to eligible citizens. The Minister emphasized the importance of coordination among departments to improve efficiency and public outreach.
A key focus area was urban infrastructure. Discussions revolved around traffic management, pollution control, water resource management, and strengthening civic infrastructure. The Minister highlighted the need to position Hyderabad as a model urban district through targeted interventions.
Concerns regarding Anganwadi centres were raised, particularly infrastructure gaps and staff shortages. Officials were directed to address these issues on priority. In the health sector, services at Basti Dawakhanas, vaccination drives, and the implementation of Ayushman Bharat were reviewed. Special emphasis was placed on ensuring coverage for citizens above 70 years of age.
The meeting also addressed essential services such as fuel supply and ration distribution. Authorities confirmed that LPG connections under the Ujjwala Yojana are being expanded, while advance ration distribution has already reached 45% of beneficiaries.
Water supply during the summer season emerged as a critical concern. Availability from major sources including Krishna, Godavari, Singur, and Himayat Sagar was reviewed, with directions issued to implement a comprehensive action plan.
Additionally, the Minister reviewed progress in education infrastructure, highway projects, and bank loan disbursals. The improvement in loan sanction rates from 7% to 25% through the Education Mela initiative was noted as a positive development.
Clean energy initiatives were also discussed, with instructions to install solar panels on government buildings under the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
The meeting concluded with a strong emphasis on coordinated governance to make Hyderabad more efficient, inclusive, and developed.
