India’s infrastructure sector has achieved a major milestone as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), in collaboration with M/s Rajpath Infracon Pvt. Ltd., created two Guinness World Records on the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor in Andhra Pradesh.

The record-breaking feat was accomplished by laying 28.95 lane-kilometres of Bituminous Concrete and utilising 10,675 metric tonnes of material continuously within just 24 hours. The achievement highlights India’s growing capabilities in large-scale highway construction and rapid execution.

The work was carried out on the NH-544G stretch, part of a 343-kilometre-long economic corridor designed to enhance connectivity between Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. Once completed, the corridor is expected to significantly reduce travel time and logistics costs while improving road safety.

Officials involved in the project described the accomplishment as a result of meticulous planning, round-the-clock coordination, and advanced construction technology. Engineers and workers operated in shifts to ensure uninterrupted material supply and quality control throughout the 24-hour period.

The economic corridor is considered one of India’s most ambitious highway projects. It is expected to boost regional trade, attract tourism, and support industrial growth by providing seamless connectivity between key economic centres in southern India.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu praised the achievement, stating that it reflects the Government of India’s vision for world-class infrastructure. He also acknowledged the leadership of Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in strengthening the national highway network.

The Chief Minister commended the engineers, field staff, and workers for their dedication and hard work, calling the record a moment of pride for both the state and the country.

Infrastructure experts believe that such achievements underline India’s ability to deliver complex projects at scale and speed, reinforcing its position as a rapidly developing global economy.
