The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) will inaugurate a newly built bridge across the Hussain Sagar surplus nala near Ashok Nagar on Friday, marking its first bridge launch of the new year.

Constructed at a cost of ₹6 crore, the new bridge provides a direct link between City Central Library at Ashok Nagar and AV College in Gaganmahal. The civic body expects the project to improve connectivity and reduce travel time in the central parts of Hyderabad.

According to GHMC officials, the bridge will benefit daily commuters, students, and residents by offering a safer, shorter, and signal-free route.

The structure spans 48 metres in length and 12 metres in width, featuring a two-lane carriageway measuring 7.5 metres wide. Footpaths on both sides have been built to ensure pedestrian safety.

Officials highlighted that the bridge enables commuters to reach Liberty Junction and the GHMC Head Office within 10 minutes, easing congestion on surrounding arterial roads.

The civic body stated that the new connection will serve as a key corridor to important educational and government institutions in the area, enhancing traffic circulation and accessibility.
