The Telangana government has issued a major order reorganizing the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate, largely confining it to key IT corridors to improve policing efficiency and ensure focused attention on high-growth commercial areas and the extended city.
Following the restructuring, the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate will now consist of three police zones, seven ACP divisions, and 22 police stations. Authorities described the move as a downsizing exercise designed to create a sharper and more efficient policing framework, with several areas shifted out to neighbouring commissionerates.
Under the new arrangement, Cyberabad has been divided into Serilingampally, Kukatpally, and Quthbullapur zones. The Serilingampally Zone will cover the western IT and residential belt, including areas along the Outer Ring Road. The Kukatpally Zone will focus on industrial, commercial, and densely populated localities, while the Quthbullapur Zone will oversee fast-growing northern and north-western suburbs.
A key public-facing change is the removal of several areas from Cyberabad’s jurisdiction. Rajendranagar, Mailardevpally, Attapur, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport area, Pahadishareef, and core Shamshabad localities have been shifted to the Hyderabad City Police Commissionerate. Officials said this would allow airport-related and core city policing to be handled directly by city authorities.
According to the Home Department, Cyberabad had grown too large to manage effectively, impacting response times and operational efficiency. The reorganisation seeks to balance workloads by strengthening city policing and clearly demarcating suburban and airport jurisdictions.
For citizens, the changes are expected to bring faster emergency response, better night patrolling, improved handling of IT and commercial crimes, and reduced confusion over where to file complaints. Residents have been advised to recheck their police station jurisdiction and approach the updated station for FIRs, tenant verification, passport services, and cybercrime complaints.
Police officials said updated jurisdiction maps will be displayed at stations shortly and emphasised that the restructuring is intended to deliver smaller jurisdictions, sharper policing, and safer neighbourhoods in the long run.
