The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has announced a major relief for property owners by introducing an One-Time Scheme for payment of property tax for the 2025–26 financial year.
According to GHMC officials, taxpayers who clear long-pending property tax dues in one installment will receive a 90 percent waiver on accumulated interest. The scheme aims to speed up recovery of arrears pending for several years.
The Telangana government has revived the One-Time Scheme through GO No. 869, offering relief to residential property owners, commercial establishments, and government institutions within GHMC limits. Taxpayers need to pay only the principal amount along with the remaining 10 percent of interest.
Officials said the scheme will significantly reduce the financial burden on citizens, with interest dues running into thousands or even lakhs of rupees being waived. Clearing property tax arrears will also ease future property transactions and bank loan approvals, as tax receipts are mandatory documents.
GHMC said taxpayers do not need to visit municipal offices for payment. Property tax can be paid easily through the official GHMC website or mobile app.
The One-Time Scheme will remain valid only for the 2025–26 financial year. After the deadline, old interest rates will apply again. Officials have urged citizens to take advantage of the scheme at the earliest.
