Two Engineering Students Killed in Drunk Driving Crash Hyderabad

A tragic road accident in Hyderabad claimed the lives of two young engineering students after a speeding car rammed into their two-wheeler near Hastinapuram under Vanasthalipuram police limits. The incident occurred on the Tuesday’s night raising serious concerns over road safety and drunk driving.

According to police the victims were identified as K. Shiva (19) and Sandeep Joel (19), both second-year Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) students at Mahaveer Engineering College. The students were riding their bike when a Honda City car approached from behind at high speed and crashed into them, police said.

The impact of the collision was severe. The car not only hit the bike but also struck a pedestrian identified as Sridhar (23). Following the crash, the vehicle reportedly lost control, spiralled, and flipped multiple times before coming to a halt upside down on the road.

Both students succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the injured pedestrian was rushed to a private hospital.

Police confirmed that the car driver has been arrested. Initial findings suggest that drunk driving may have been a contributing factor, although official confirmation is awaited.

This incident highlights the growing menace of reckless and intoxicated driving in urban areas. Road safety experts continue to stress the importance of strict enforcement of traffic laws and public awareness campaigns to prevent such tragedies.

The accident has left the local community in shock, especially fellow students and residents who have called for stricter action against traffic violations.

As investigations continue, police are expected to release further details regarding the circumstances leading to the crash.
