Global health technology major Royal Philips has expressed strong interest in partnering with Telangana in the field of Artificial Intelligence, with discussions also exploring the possibility of setting up a knowledge hub in Hyderabad.

The proposal emerged during a meeting between the Telangana Rising delegation, led by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, and Philips’ global leadership at the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum 2026 held in Davos. Jan Willem-Scheijgrond, Vice President and Global Head of Government & Public Affairs at Philips, appreciated Telangana’s AI-led disruption in healthcare and conveyed the company’s willingness to collaborate with the state.

During the interaction, the Telangana delegation briefed Philips about the newly launched Next-Gen Life Sciences Policy 2026–2030, which aims to build a $250-billion life sciences economy by 2030. The policy extends incentives to allied sectors such as medical electronics, further strengthening the state’s health-tech ecosystem.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated that Telangana is developing a world-class and sustainable industrial cluster to transform pharmaceutical manufacturing and research and development. He highlighted the PURE (Peri-Urban Region Economy) corridor between the ORR and RRR as a key manufacturing and logistics zone under the Telangana Rising 2047 vision.

IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu noted that Telangana’s mature ecosystem of over 2,000 life sciences companies, combined with a strong IT-healthcare talent base, positions the state as a global destination for innovation. He added that Hyderabad’s reputation in medical tourism and AI-enabled healthcare services has attracted international attention.

The discussions also focused on establishing a joint knowledge hub in Hyderabad, leveraging the state’s expertise in AI, med-tech, and health-tech. The Telangana government invited Philips’ leadership to visit Genome Valley and explore collaboration opportunities. In response, Philips invited the Telangana Rising delegation to visit its headquarters in Netherlands.

With Telangana planning a dedicated AI City in Hyderabad, officials believe the partnership with Philips could significantly boost innovation, research, and global investment in the state’s healthcare and technology sectors.
