The Special Crime Team of the Central Crime Station Hyderabad along with Hussaini Alam Police apprehended a man for illegal possession of a country-made pistol in the Old City of Hyderabad on December 31, 2025.
The accused has been identified as 29 year old Amjad Khan, a businessman operating in the Charminar area and a resident of Khilwath, Hussaini Alam. Police said the arrest was made following credible information received by the Special Crime Team.
According to officials, Amjad Khan had returned to Hyderabad after working in Saudi Arabia and had been engaged in business activities in the Charminar locality. About 10 months ago, he allegedly purchased a country-made pistol of 0.7 mm caliber for Rs. 80,000.
Investigations revealed that the weapon was procured from Avinash alias Kallu, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, through a mediator identified as Amith, who is currently residing in the BHEL area of Hyderabad and is also a native of Madhya Pradesh. Police stated that the accused kept the firearm in his possession to threaten members of the general public.
During the arrest, police recovered one country-made pistol and a OnePlus mobile phone from the accused. While Amjad Khan has been taken into custody, the other two accused, Avinash and Amith, are currently absconding, and efforts are on to trace them.
The apprehension was carried out by Inspector D. Bikshapathi of the Special Crime Team along with his staff, under the supervision of ACP G. Venkateswar Reddy, in coordination with Hussaini Alam police personnel.
Police have issued a strong advisory warning that individuals in illegal possession of arms and weapons should immediately surrender them at their nearest police station. Authorities emphasized that Hyderabad City Police are maintaining strict surveillance over anti-social elements and will take swift action against offenders.
