The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has successfully protected 2.30 acres of government land earmarked for a public park in Bachupally Mandal of Medchal–Malkajgiri district, preventing further illegal encroachments on the valuable property.

According to officials, the land — estimated to be worth nearly ₹300 crore — is located in Survey Nos. 142, 143, and 144 and was officially allocated for park development in 2016 by the then District Collector. Following the allocation, extensive green development was undertaken, including the planting of hundreds of saplings, establishment of an urban nursery, and creation of essential infrastructure.

Facilities such as a borewell, water sump, watchman room, iron gates, and fencing were developed to support the park and ensure its maintenance. However, in 2023, private individuals allegedly destroyed the green cover, removed the nursery, and constructed a boundary wall overnight, falsely claiming the land as private property.

After receiving a complaint through Praja Vani, HYDRAA conducted a detailed field inspection in coordination with concerned departments. Officials confirmed that the land was indeed designated for public park use. Acting swiftly on the directions of HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, encroachments were removed earlier this week.

HYDRAA erected new fencing around the land and installed official boards clearly identifying it as government property, thereby preventing future encroachments. In addition, the agency also reclaimed 30 guntas of adjacent government land that had been allotted for the construction of an MRO office and was found to be illegally occupied.

Local residents of Bachupally welcomed the action and expressed gratitude to HYDRAA for protecting the public park land. Many residents raised slogans in support of HYDRAA and the state government, highlighting the importance of preserving public spaces and government assets.
