The Comprehensive Development Corridor connecting Nalgonda ‘X’ Roads to Owaisi Hospital Junction is expected to be made operational by April, according to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner R. V. Karnan.
The Commissioner on Tuesday reviewed the progress of works on the corridor, which runs via Saidabad and IS Sadan and is being developed as a conflict-free stretch to ease traffic congestion in South Hyderabad. The project is aimed at improving connectivity and reducing bottlenecks along one of the city’s busy traffic corridors.
The project includes a 2,530-metre-long main flyover being constructed at an estimated cost of ₹620 crore under the EPC/turnkey mode. Officials informed the Commissioner that nearly 80 percent of the construction work has already been completed.
During the field-level inspection, the Commissioner instructed engineers and contractors to expedite the remaining works and ensure that the corridor is opened to the public by April. He also directed officials to obtain necessary traffic diversion permissions for the crucial stretch between Saidabad and Dhobighat Junction to allow uninterrupted construction activity.
Emphasizing the importance of seamless connectivity after the corridor becomes operational, the Commissioner further instructed that land acquisition for the service roads be completed at the earliest. This, he said, would help ensure smooth traffic flow and prevent congestion on adjoining roads.
The corridor is expected to significantly benefit commuters in South Hyderabad by reducing travel time and easing pressure on existing arterial roads once it becomes functional.
Charminar Zonal Commissioner Srinivas Reddy, Executive Engineer B. Gopal, and other senior officials of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation were present during the inspection.
