GHMC Standing Committee Clears ₹11,460 Crore Budget Draft for 2026–27

The Standing Committee of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has approved the annual budget draft for the financial year 2026–27 during a special meeting held on Monday.

The meeting, chaired by Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi took place at the GHMC headquarters. Along with the proposed 2026–27 budget, the committee also discussed and approved the revised budget estimates for the 2025–26 financial year.

The approved budget draft amounts to ₹11,460 crore, including allocations for merged municipalities. The draft will now be placed before the GHMC General Body meeting for final approval in an upcoming meeting.

During the session, members deliberated on 15 agenda items and seven additional proposals, all of which received approval after detailed discussions.

Key decisions included the approval of modern crematorium facilities at BC Vaikuntha Dham in Chandanagar circle, construction of box drains in Khairatabad zone, and proposed road works from Chandanagar to Ameenpur. Recommendations were also made to the state government for flyovers, grade separators, and underpasses along the H-City Corridor.

The committee further cleared proposals to invite e-procurement tenders for a three-year agreement to implement artificial intelligence-based solutions, chatbots, and automated form-filling systems on the GHMC website.

Additional approvals covered road safety awareness initiatives, extension of CSR-based maintenance contracts for road dividers, parks, and flyovers, and various urban beautification projects. Proposals such as renaming NBT Nagar Convention Hall, establishing the Hyderabad Sculpture Park in Jubilee Hills, green development initiatives, leasing of GHMC properties, and open auctions for shopping complexes were also discussed.

The meeting was attended by GHMC Commissioner R. V. Karnan, standing committee members, zonal commissioners, additional commissioners, and senior officials from multiple departments.
