Telangana Assembly: MIM MLA Seeks Immediate Release of Scholarships for Minority Students

MIM legislator Ahmed Balala raised serious concerns over the non-release of Overseas Scholarships, Post-Matric and Fee Reimbursement during Zero Hour on the first day of the Telangana Assembly Winter Session on Monday.

Speaking in the House, Ahmed Balala, the MLA from Malakpet constituency warned that prolonged delays in scholarship payments were pushing thousands of students into uncertainty and distress across the state.

He stated that Overseas Scholarship schemes had nearly come to a standstill, affecting students aspiring to pursue higher education abroad. In addition, long-pending Post-Matric and Fee Reimbursement dues had not been cleared, compounding financial pressure on economically weaker families.

Balala highlighted that the crisis had extended beyond students. Due to non-payment of government dues, several regular and professional colleges had reportedly stopped issuing original certificates, preventing students from seeking employment or further academic opportunities.

The MLA cautioned that many educational institutions were facing a severe financial crunch. Colleges, he said, were unable to pay salaries to teaching and non-teaching staff, raising fears of institutional shutdowns.

“If this situation continues, it will lead to job insecurity for teachers, lecturers, and professors, and may result in large-scale unemployment in the education sector,” he warned.

The MIM MLA urged the state government to immediately release all pending scholarship and fee reimbursement amounts. He emphasized that further delays could cause irreversible damage to Telangana’s education ecosystem.

Responding briefly, the concerned minister Mohammed Azeruddin acknowledged the issue and assured the House that the matter had been taken note of.
