Hyderabad recorded a significant decline in overall crime during 2025, according to official data released by the city police. The statistics were shared by Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Sajjanar during the annual press conference held on Saturday at TG-ICCC building Banjara Hills.

As per the data, total crime cases registered under BNS, SLL, and other laws fell from 35,944 cases in 2024 to 30,690 cases in 2025. This represents an overall reduction of 15 percent, highlighting the impact of strengthened policing and preventive strategies across the city.

Cases registered specifically under BNS and SLL also declined by 14 percent, dropping from 28,005 in 2024 to 24,027 in 2025. Bodily offences showed a positive trend as well, with total cases decreasing by 16 percent. Grave bodily offences declined marginally, while non-grave bodily offences witnessed a sharper reduction.

Property-related crimes recorded one of the most notable improvements. Overall property offences declined by 28 percent, falling from 5,328 cases in 2024 to 3,817 in 2025. Both grave and non-grave property offences registered significant reductions, reflecting improved surveillance and crime-prevention measures.

Rise in Crimes Against Women and Children

Cybercrime cases also showed a positive trend. Registered cases declined by 27 percent, from 3,111 in 2024 to 2,286 in 2025. Police Commsioner attributed this decline to increased public awareness, faster response systems, and better coordination with cybercrime units and financial institutions.

However, the data highlighted certain areas of concern. Crimes against women increased by 6 percent, while cases registered under the POCSO Act saw a sharp rise of 27 percent. Police officials clarified that improved reporting mechanisms and increased public confidence may have contributed to the rise in reported cases.

Meanwhile, crimes under the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act declined by 27 percent, indicating better enforcement and preventive efforts.

Addressing the media, Commissioner Sajjanar stated that focused policing, technology-driven monitoring, and community engagement played a crucial role in reducing overall crime. He assured that special emphasis would be placed on preventing crimes against women and children in the coming year.

The City Police made elaborate security and traffic arrangements for all major festivals, including Ramzan, Bakrid, Ganesh and Bonalu processions, Milad-un-Nabi, Ram Navami, and Hanuman Jayanti. Due to coordinated planning and effective deployment, all these festivals were conducted peacefully, he added.
