A woman died while undergoing treatment after being allegedly assaulted by her husband following a domestic dispute in Miyapur, Hyderabad, on Wednesday. Police have taken the accused husband into custody and launched an investigation.
Miyapur police inspector P Shiva Prasad told Raftaar e Deccan that a woman identified as Vijayalakshmi lost her life after being allegedly beaten by her husband, Raju.
According to police inspector, Raju had reportedly developed a habit of excessive drinking and frequent indulgence in late-night outings. His wife Vijayalakshmi had repeatedly advised him to change his behavior, leading to frequent arguments between the couple.
When Raju allegedly ignored her concerns, Vijayalakshmi decided to approach her in-laws to lodge a complaint about his conduct. However, while she was on her way to meet them, Raju reportedly stopped her, leading to a heated argument between the two.
During the altercation, police said Raju lost control and allegedly assaulted Vijayalakshmi with punches. She collapsed at the spot and was immediately shifted to a nearby private hospital by the accused himself.
Despite medical treatment, Vijayalakshmi succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment. Following the incident, police took Raju into custody and shifted him to the police station for questioning.
The victim’s body was taken into police custody and sent to Gandhi Hospital for post-mortem examination. Police officials stated that further investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of death.
Local residents informed police that the couple had been living in Gokul Plots, Miyapur, with their two children for the past eight years. Neighbors also confirmed that disputes between the couple had increased in recent months due to Raju’s drinking habits.
