Cyberabad witnessed a sharp decline in registered cybercrime cases in 2025 compared to 2024, according to official police data. The figures indicate stronger enforcement, faster complaint handling, and improved public awareness across the region.
In 2024, Cyberabad Police registered 11,914 cybercrime cases. This number dropped to 7,636 cases in 2025, marking a year-on-year reduction of 4,278 cases, or nearly 36 percent.
Cyberabad Police Commssioner Avinash Mohanty on Tuesday released annual report, according to that report cybercrime complaints increased from 30,883 in 2024 to 31,569 in 2025, the number of FIRs declined significantly. Police attribute this to stricter scrutiny at the complaint stage and better early intervention mechanisms.
Major fraud categories such as part-time job fraud, trading fraud, smishing, vishing, and digital arrest scams recorded substantial declines. Digital arrest fraud saw one of the steepest drops, falling from 1,002 cases in 2024 to just 117 in 2025.
However, certain areas showed an upward trend. Unauthorized transactions, phishing fraud, social media abuse, and child exploitation cases increased, prompting intensified monitoring by cybercrime units.
Cyberabad Police credit dedicated cyber teams, bank coordination, rapid response desks, and large-scale awareness campaigns for the overall decline. Officials emphasize that early reporting and public vigilance remain key to sustaining this progress.
