South Zone police announced the arrest of six suspects in the murder of Junaid bin Mohammed during a press briefing addressed by DCP Khare Kiran Prabhakar on Wednesday. Investigators have identified twelve accused in total. Six are in custody and six are on the run.
Junaid was stabbed to death near Yakutpura on December 10. He suffered multiple injuries and died at the scene.
According to the DCP Khare Kiran Prabhakar, the murder was planned by Umar bin Hamza Al Jabri and Ali bin Hamza Al Jabri. They are sons of notorius Zafar Pehelwan and have a history sheet at Rein Bazar Police Station. Police said both were involved in illegal real estate commission activities and forced transactions. They collected money from property dealings and threatened buyers and sellers in the locality.
Police said Junaid objected to these activities and interfered in several land dealings. This created personal disputes. Arguments increased during recent weeks. The group decided to harm Junaid and carried out a planned attack.
The accused gathered at a house on the night of December 10. They moved towards a location near Chabutra at Yakutpura where Junaid was already present. Umar and Ali used knives in the attack. Three others held Junaid during the stabbing.
Police arrested Umar bin Hamza Al Jabri, Ali bin Hamza Al Jabri, Faizal bin Habib, Mohammed Maqsood Ali, Syed Asgar Ali and Tahir. The absconding accused are Rahim Gauri, Malik, Azhar, Zubair, Riyan and Kulsum.
Police seized three knives, one Ola electric bike, one Suzuki Burgman bike and three mobile phones from the accused.
The case is registered under Rein Bazar Police Station Crime No. 192 of 2025. Officers from Rein Bazar Police, Mir Chowk Police, Task Force South Zone and other units took part in the investigation. Teams worked for eight days to track down the accused.
South Zone DCP Khare Kiran Prabhakar said the role of Zafar Pahelwan is not established in this murder case.
The DCP requested residents to report threats, illegal commission activities and extortion without delay. You are encouraged to file complaints directly with police if you face pressure from local offenders or rowdy sheeters, he said.
