Chief Minister Telangana A Revanth Reddy said the results of the recent panchayat elections reflect public approval of two years of Congress governance in the State. He addressed a media conference at his Jubilee Hills residence on Thursday along with senior ministers.

The Chief Minister thanked voters for supporting the Congress party and congratulated officials for conducting the elections smoothly without lapses. He said people voted freely and the government did not misuse power or official positions to influence results.

According to official figures shared by the Chief Minister, elections were held in 12,702 gram panchayats across the state. Congress won in 7,527 panchayats, 808 Congress rebels secured victories. Congress and its rebels together won 8,335 panchayats, which accounts for 66 percent whereas BRS and BJP together secured 33 percent and Left parties won around 1 percent.

Revanth Reddy said the outcome reflects people’s judgment on two years of public governance. He added that voters also supported Congress in the Cantonment and Jubilee Hills by-elections.

Congress Ahead in 87 Assembly Segments

He stated that local body elections were conducted in 94 Assembly constituencies. Congress secured majority results in 87 constituencies. BRS recorded major wins in six constituencies and BJP in one.

The Chief Minister said welfare measures played a key role in public support. He listed the supply of fine rice, free electricity, bonus on coarse grain procurement, Rs 500 LPG cylinders, Indiramma housing, 200 units of free power, interest-free loans to women self-help groups, SC categorisation, caste survey, and other schemes.

He said the government delivered six guarantees and added freedom as a seventh assurance. Elections were held in a peaceful and open atmosphere, he added.

Revanth Reddy accused the BJP of weakening the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme by attempting to remove Mahatma Gandhi’s name. He said the move was driven by political hostility and undermined democratic values.

He also targeted the BRS, stating the party failed Telangana people over river water issues related to the Godavari and Krishna. He said the Congress government is ready for open discussion in the Assembly and will place evidence on record.

On political challenges, the Chief Minister said Congress defeated KCR while he remained active in politics. He added that KCR is no longer active and issued a direct challenge to debate governance failures.

Revanth Reddy said the government will move forward on 42 percent BC reservations through democratic debate in the Assembly.

Responding to criticism over residential schools, he rejected claims of student deaths or food poisoning. He said old incidents from previous years were being presented as current issues. He asserted that the government has not targeted opposition leaders and ensured fair conduct during elections.

He concluded that the election results increase the government’s responsibility and expressed confidence that people will deliver a similar verdict again in 2029, bringing Congress back to power with a strong mandate.
