What began as a joyful excursion turned into a frightening experience for dozens of schoolchildren on Thursday after their bus met with an accident near Shamshabad in Ranga Reddy district.
The students were travelling from Shamshabad to Jalavihar in Hyderabad for a school picnic. Around 60 students were on board the bus, singing and enjoying the journey, when the vehicle suddenly lost control and overturned near Shamshabad.
In the accident, several students sustained minor injuries. Panic gripped the children as the bus overturned without warning. Local residents rushed to the spot immediately after the incident, followed by police personnel. With their help, the students were safely rescued from the bus.
The injured students were shifted to nearby hospitals, where they are currently receiving medical treatment. Doctors said the injuries were not life-threatening. Upon receiving information about the accident, anxious parents rushed to the hospitals to check on their children. Relief prevailed among families as there were no reports of fatalities.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Meanwhile, the overturned bus caused a major traffic jam in the area. Police teams are working to clear the traffic and restore normal movement on the road.
