Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Bengaluru on Sunday, August 10, 2025, to inaugurate a series of significant transport infrastructure projects aimed at boosting the city’s connectivity. His itinerary includes the launch of three new Vande Bharat Express trains and the much-awaited Namma Metro Yellow Line.
During his approximately four-hour visit, the Prime Minister will first head to the KSR Bengaluru City Railway Station. There, he will flag off the Vande Bharat Express connecting Bengaluru to Belagavi. He will also virtually inaugurate two other Vande Bharat services: one from Amritsar to Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and another from Nagpur (Ajni) to Pune.
Following the railway event, the focus will shift to urban transport with the inauguration of the Namma Metro’s Yellow Line. This new 19.15 km metro line will connect RV Road in central Bengaluru to the southern industrial hub of Bommasandra, passing through key areas like Silk Board Junction and Electronic City. The Prime Minister is expected to travel on the metro from the Ragigudda station to Electronic City.
At a subsequent event at the International Institute of Information Technology, Bengaluru (IIIT-B), Prime Minister Modi will officially dedicate the Yellow Line to the nation and lay the foundation stone for the ambitious Phase 3 of the Namma Metro project. The new metro line, built at a cost of ₹5,056.99 crore, is expected to initially serve around 25,000 passengers daily, with trains running every 25 minutes.
The Bengaluru Traffic Police have announced traffic diversions and parking restrictions across several key routes from 8:30 am to 2:30 pm on Sunday to facilitate the Prime Minister’s visit. The new Vande Bharat service to Belagavi will commence its regular operations on Monday, August 11, running six days a week, excluding Wednesdays.
