MIM won 70 seats in Telangana Municipal Election

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has delivered a strong performance in the recently concluded municipal elections across Telangana. The party secured 70 seats across multiple municipalities, strengthening its political presence beyond its traditional base in Hyderabad.

According to declared results, AIMIM recorded notable victories in several districts. The results indicate the party’s growing influence in urban and semi-urban regions, particularly in minority-dominated areas.

One of the most significant victories came from Bodhan and Bhainsa, where AIMIM won 12 seats each. These results underline the party’s organisational strength and well-coordinated election strategy in these municipalities.

In Nizamabad Municipal Corporation, the party secured 14 seats and emerged as kingmaker in the civic body. Political observers believe this outcome could allow AIMIM to play a decisive role in local governance and potential coalition formations.

In Adilabad, the party won six seats, while it secured three seats each in Karimnagar, Nirmal, and Mahboobnagar.

AIMIM also maintained a steady presence in several municipalities by winning two seats each in Jagitial, Zaheerabad, Nalgonda, and Narayanpet. Additionally, the party secured one seat each in towns such as Sangareddy, Gadwal, Vikarabad, Kagaznagar, Kodangal, Kohir, Armoor, and Tandur.

In 2020, MIM had won total 93 seats in which 15 were in Jalpally Municipalty and 1 in Bandlaguda Jagir. Both these municipalties now are part of Hyderabad hence no elections were conducted. Compared to prevaious MIM has lost of 7 seats in North Telangana. Last time party had won 16 seats in Nizamabad and 6 seats in Karimnagar.

Party’s district leadership expressed satisfaction with the results, stating that the victories reflect public trust in its commitment to development and inclusive governance. Leaders also credited local cadres and volunteers for strengthening the party’s outreach during the campaign period.

While counting has concluded in most municipalities, observers believe that AIMIM’s performance could influence future political equations in Telangana, particularly in urban local body politics. In several civic bodies, the party may play a crucial role in shaping governance arrangements.
