Salary Crisis Hits Telangana Wakf Board as Chairman and CEO Clash

Hyderabad, 25 November: A serious conflict between the Telangana Wakf Board Chairman and the CEO has delayed the salaries of nearly 300 employees. Internal disagreements have blocked key decisions and created an administrative deadlock.

Board officials said the dispute between the Chairman and the CEO has continued since the beginning of their tenure. The Board has not held a meeting for several months. The CEO was transferred earlier on court orders, but the government later reinstated him. Before the transfer, the Chairman and some members met the then Minister for Minority Welfare A Laxman Kumar and requested the CEO’s transfer.

After returning to office, the CEO pressed for the release of two months of pending salary. The Chairman refused to approve it. This led to a standoff. According to sources, the CEO stated he will not sign salary bills of any employee until his own arrears are cleared. As a result, all staff members remain unpaid.

Employees expressed concern and appealed for immediate intervention from the government to restore normal functioning.

The issue gained attention after several journalists reported it on social media. Minister for Minority Welfare Mohammed Azharuddin and Secretary B Shafiullah took note of the matter. Both are currently in Saudi Arabia and are expected to return on 25 November.

Meanwhile, the Wakf Board Chairman Syed Azmatullah Hussaini is on a visit to Warangal. He is expected to review and sign pending files after returning.

The CEO signed the file related to salaries on Monday evening. The date for the next Board meeting remains unclear.
