A condolence meeting was held at the Haj House in Mumbai to mourn the passing of renowned scholar and intellectual Dr Mohammad Manzoor Alam. The programme was organised by Dawat-e-Sunnah and witnessed participation from leading religious scholars and community leaders.

Dr Alam was the National General Secretary of the All India Milli Council and the founder of the Institute of Objective Studies (IOS). His demise has been widely described as the end of an era in India’s Muslim intellectual and organisational landscape.

The meeting was presided over by Maulana Anees-ur-Rahman Qasmi, Acting President of the All India Milli Council. Mufti Umar Abideen Qasmi Madani National Secretary of the Milli Council paid rich tribute calling Dr Alam a guiding force in the world of knowledge and thought. He noted that Dr Alam played a key role in shaping Muslim think tanks in India and remained firmly rooted in the collective position of the community.

Maulana Mohammad Shahid Nasri founder of Dawat-e-Sunnah, said the loss was not of an individual alone but of an entire era.
