Hyderabad Police Launch ‘Operation Kavach’ with 5,000 Personnel at 150 Checkpoints

In a major citywide security initiative, Hyderabad City Police have launched an extensive naka bandi operation, Operation Kavach, began at 10:30 p.m. and continued for two hours across the Commissionerate limits on the Friday night.

The operation marks one of the largest coordinated deployments in recent years, with nearly 5,000 police personnel stationed across 150 strategic locations. Teams from Law & Order, Traffic, Task Force, Armed Reserve, Blue Colts, and patrolling units are jointly participating in the massive exercise.

CP Sajjanar visited various areas in City to supervised the operation. He also inpected vehecle checking in old city where he spoke to media also. Sajjanar said Senior officials, including DCP Kiran, are supervising ground-level activities in South Zone. At Gulzar House, where intensive vehicle checking is underway, He confirmed that 25 vehicles have been seized so far for various violations.

Commisioner Police Hyderabad stated that the naka bandi will be followed by strengthened foot patrolling to enhance area domination and deter criminal activity during late-night hours.

He appealed to citizens to cooperate fully with the checks, emphasizing: “Your safety is our responsibility.” Sajjanar urged to report any suspicious activity immediately by dialing 100.

According to police sources, a naka bandi has been initiated after three to four recent criminal incidents, including the seizure of ₹4 crore in hawala money, a ₹40 lakh robbery, and a murder in the Old City. “We want to strengthen basic policing to curb crime. These recent incidents are unfortunate; therefore, we have enhanced security measures,” a senior police officer told Raftaar e Deccan.
