In connection with the recent murder of Junaid bin Mohammed, police conducted an early morning raid at the residences of notorious rowdy sheeter Zafar Pahilwan and his sons on Wednesday.
The operation was part of intensified efforts to curb rowdyism and criminal activities in the city. Around 60 police personnel participated in the coordinated search led by ACP Mirchowk G Shyam Sunder.
According to ACP Mirchowk, during the raid, police recovered several illegal knives along with documents linked to suspected illegal properties. ACP said the seized documents are currently under detailed verification.
Based on the recovery of illegal weapons, police are registering two FIRs under the Arms Act against Zafar Pahilwan, his son Sayeed Pahilwan, and Sulemaan Pahilwan.
All three accused are currently absconding. Special police teams have been formed to trace and arrest them at the earliest. Police have appealed to the public to share any information related to the accused, assuring complete confidentiality for informants.
Meanwhile DCP South Zone Khare Kiran Prabhakar issued a statement to media and said Zafar Pahilwan involved in more than 40 criminal cases where his son Sayeed who is former Rowdy Sheeter involved in five cases. “Rowdyism and criminal activities will not be tolerated, and stringent action will be taken against those involved in such offences to maintain law and order in old city, he said.
Police officials clarified that Junaid was brutally murdered on December 3 within the jurisdiction of Rein Bazaar Police Station. Acting swiftly in the case, the police arrested two sons of Zafar Pahilwan in connection with the incident. Both accused were later produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
