Viral Video Sparks Political Storm in West Bengal

A political controversy has erupted in West Bengal after a viral video allegedly featuring Humayun Kabir surfaced online. The video, which is around 19 minutes long, contains claims of a financial deal with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The incident has triggered sharp reactions from multiple political parties.

According to claims made in the video, there was an alleged ₹1000 crore deal with the BJP. It further suggests that if 60 to 70 MLAs were elected, Kabir could become the Deputy Chief Minister in a BJP-led government. These claims have not been independently verified.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) brought the video into the public domain. Party leader Kunal Ghosh reportedly released the clip during a press conference, intensifying the political debate in the state.

Soon after the video went viral, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) announced the termination of its alliance with Humayun Kabir’s party. In an official statement, AIMIM said it cannot associate with any remarks that question the integrity of Muslims. The party emphasized that it would now contest the Bengal elections independently.

AIMIM also highlighted the socio-economic condition of Muslims in West Bengal, describing them as among the most marginalized communities. The party reiterated its objective of providing an independent political voice to such groups.

Meanwhile, Humayun Kabir has denied the authenticity of the viral video. He claimed that the video was generated using artificial intelligence (AI) and announced that he would take legal action after the elections.
