Air India has issued a travel advisory informing passengers about flight delays and cancellations following the closure of Iranian airspace due to an emerging security situation in the region.

According to the airline, flights that were previously overflying Iran are now being operated via alternative routes to ensure the safety of passengers and crew. As a result, some services may experience longer flight times and delays.

The airline also confirmed that certain flights have been cancelled where rerouting is not operationally feasible. These decisions, Air India stated, have been taken purely in the interest of passenger safety.

In an official statement, Air India urged passengers to check the status of their flights before heading to the airport. The airline has directed travelers to its website, where real-time flight updates are available.

“Due to the emerging situation in Iran and the subsequent closure of its airspace, Air India flights overflying the region are now using alternative routing, which may lead to delays,” the airline said. “Some Air India flights where rerouting is not possible are being cancelled.”

The airline expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to passengers, describing the disruption as unforeseen. It reiterated that the safety of passengers and crew remains its top priority.

Such airspace closures often have a cascading effect on international flight operations, particularly for long-haul routes connecting South Asia, Europe, and North America. Airlines are required to adjust flight paths to comply with international aviation safety advisories and regional regulations.

Passengers with upcoming travel plans are advised to stay updated through official airline channels and avoid unnecessary airport visits if their flight status is uncertain.
